The Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission (FC), Dr Hugh Brown and his Deputy, Mr. Elikem Kotoko have joined the nation in mourning the eight (8) distinguished compatriots,who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash.
This tragic incident occurred in the Dampia Forest Reserve, near Sikaman in the Ashanti Region.

The eight men included the Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed (PhD) and three other public officials, along with three (3) officers of the Ghana Air Force.

Due to this unfortunate incident , the Government has declared a three-day national mourning period, marked by a public laying of flowers and the lighting of candles in memory of the deceased.

As part of national observances, Dr. Brown and Mr. Kotoko visited the Jubilee House to lay flowers at a special memorial erected in honour of the fallen heroes in an atmosphere of mourning, reflection and gratitude. These men lost their lives in service and commitment to the progress of Ghana, in accordance with the National Pledge.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Flag at the FC Office Complex flies at half-mast, complying with the directive from the Presidency.

The Forestry Commission would like to use this opportunity to offer condolences to the bereaved families, affected institutions and the nation as a whole, in this time of national grief
