The Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission (FC), Dr. Hugh Brown, has paid a courtesy call on His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, to formally introduce himself and pledge support for the Ga State’s health, environmental, and sanitation initiatives.

Dr. Brown, who was accompanied by member of the Executive Management Team, (EMT) of the Commission, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with traditional authorities. He emphasised that development and environmental sustainability can only be achieved through collaboration.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, he said the Commission is deeply interested in contributing to social development initiatives within the Ga State. “We are also committed to supporting your Girl-Child Education Initiative, as education and environmental awareness go hand in hand”, he stated.

As a mark of goodwill and respect for tradition, Dr. Hugh Brown presented assorted drinks in line with Ga custom, in addition to a cheque for One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 100,000) to support the Ga Mantse’s flagship Health, Environment and Sanitation Project.

In response, His Majesty commended the Forestry Commission’s vision and pledged the Ga State’s support for its initiatives. “Environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility between traditional authorities and state institutions. We believe in the Commission’s mandate and will support every effort to protect and preserve our forests and environment,” he said.

The Ga Mantse also urged staff of the Forestry Commission to rally behind the Chief Executive, stressing that unity and teamwork would ensure greater results in safeguarding Ghana’s natural resources.

The event was brought to a symbolic close with special prayers offered by the Chief Priest of the Ga State, Nuumo Akwaa Mensa III, who invoked blessings of protection, wisdom, and strength from the ancestors upon Dr. Hugh Brown, describing him as a son of the soil
