The Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Forestry Commission Ladies Association (FCLA) has organised a special event that combined breast cancer sensitisation and screening with the election, handing-over, and inauguration of its newly elected executives.
The event, held at the Forestry Commission Training Centre (FCTC), was chaired by Dr. Nana Owusu-Ansah, Ag. Director FCTC, and brought together members from various divisions and departments of the Commission.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Madam Mary Balkono, National Vice President of FCLA, and Madam Vida Ackora-Prah, Retired Regional President of FCLA. Both commended the Association for its sustained commitment to the welfare, empowerment, and professional development of women within the Forestry Commission.
As part of the event’s health-focused agenda, three professional midwives facilitated an insightful breast cancer awareness session and conducted free screening for members. The health team educated participants on the importance of early detection, regular self-examination, and proactive health management.
The second part of the day’s activities involved the election and induction of ten (10) new executives for the Ashanti Regional Chapter of FCLA, who pledged to uphold the values of the Association and advance its mission of unity, growth, and advocacy for women’s health and empowerment within the Commission.
The executives are:
• Ms.Phoebe Prisca Owusu-Ansah – President
• Ms. Mercy Konadu – Vice President
• Ms. Leticia Claudia Ampomah – Secretary
• Ms. Ilham Seidu – Asst. Secretary
• Ms. Vivian Sekyere Amoanyi – Organiser
• Ms. Regina Adutwumwaa – Asst. Organiser
• Ms. Ellen Baffoe – Financial Secretary
• Ms. Dorcas Twumasi – Treasurer

The programme concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Nana Owusu-Ansah, followed by a vote of thanks by Miss Nina Boakye, the outgoing Organiser of the Association. A closing prayer led by the newly elected Chaplain, Ms. Elizabeth Binney, brought the ceremony to a graceful end, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the FCLA Ashanti Regional Chapter.
