The Ghana institute of Foresters (GIF) held a ceremony to officially inaugurate a state -of-the-art office complex at the Greater Accra Regional Office premises at Achimota.
Dr. Abukari N. Attah Esq. the President of the (GIF), said over the years, the Institute has never had an office where they carry out their daily operations. This edifice, will therefore go a long way to make their operations easier and faster.
He mentioned that with the help of Dr. Hugh Brown, the Acting Chief Executive of Forestry Commission, and high- profiled individuals as well as partners who share in their vision for sustainable forestry in Ghana, helped to make this project a successful one.
The office building which was put up by Ms. Emelia Djanie, the CEO and contractor of Uncontained Spaces, spoke about the materials used to give the space its spectacular and unique look which will stand the test of time.
Dr. Abukari Nantogmah Attah stated that, “This is not an office, but a symbol of commitment to professionalism, progress and the long-term health of our forest ecosystems. It marks a significant milestone in our journey to elevate the work of forestry professionals and strengthen our institutional capacity”.
He furthered that, “With this new office, the Institute is better equipped to support the Forestry Commission and all stakeholders in delivering on their collective mandate. From hosting advanced training for forest managers, to coordinating research, policy advocacy and forest restoration projects, this facility will serve as a hub for innovation and collaboration”.
He mentioned that, Ghana’s forests are at a critical point. Illegal logging, deforestation, legal and illegal mining targeting forests and climate pressures continue to threaten our natural heritage. But with modern infrastructure, enhanced coordination and skilled personnel, this trend can be reversed. This office will help streamline our operations, improve data management and enable stronger partnerships with government, civil society, academia and the private sector “This is more then a building, it is an investment in the future of our forest, our people and our planet”. On behalf of the Ghana Institute of Foresters, Dr Abukari Nangtogmah Attah thanked the Acting CE, Dr Hugh Brown, management and staff of FC for support them tremendously in putting up this edifice.
