The Western Region Chapter of the Forestry Commission Ladies Association ( FCLA) championed Breast Cancer Awareness in the Region. This initiative brought together , staff of the three (3) divisions within the Western Region , that is the Forest Services Division (FSD), the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD) and the Wildlife Division ( WD) to raise awareness on the ongoing global campaign against breast cancer.
This year’s campaign was held under the theme “Know Early, Act Early, Check Yourself, Care Yourself.”” The collaborative effort sought to educate staff on the importance of early detection , regular self- examination and prompt medical attention which remain the most effective means of combating cancer.
The programme was also attended by the Regional Manager of the Forest Services Division, Nana Poku Bosompim; Deputy Regional Manager, Mr Baba Musa; Human Resource Manager of TIDD , Mr Samuel Agyei Kusi ; and Human Resource Officer ( FSD) Miss Belinda Bansah.
The event featured an insightful health talk on breast cancer during which health professionals educated participants on the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment options available.
The programme concluded with a free breast cancer screening exercise held at the GHAPOHA Hospital in Takoradi where staff and participants had the opportunity to undergo screening and consultation.
This initiative reaffirmed FCLA ‘s commitment to promote the health and wellbeing of its members while also contributing to the global fight against breast cancer.
